Jessica Quick Named KMIZ Chief Meteorologist

News-Press & Gazette’s ABC affiliate KMIZ Columbia-Jefferson City, Mo. (DMA 136) has hired a familiar face to lead its ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team as its new chief meteorologist. Jessica Quick will take over as the station’s chief beginning April 8.

Quick was the station’s noon meteorologist between 2014 and 2016. She recently wrapped up a three-year stint as an on-air meteorologist for KSDK St. Louis.

Quick joins the team after the departure of longtime chief Sharon Ray. She will appear weeknights at 5, 6, 6:30, 9 and 10 p.m.  and will lead KMIZ’s effort online as well with daily forecast videos, Insider Blog posts and severe weather coverage on abc17news.com and the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather App.

Quick is an Illinois native who graduated with a bachelor of science in meteorology from Northern Illinois University. She earned her American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal in 2015.
