KCCI Meteorologist Jason Sydejko Moves To Weekdays

Hearst Television’s CBS affiliate KCCI Des Moines, Iowa, today promoted Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Jason Sydejko, a member of KCCI Storm Team 8 since 2015, to its KCCI 8 News This Morning.

When a derecho swept across Iowa in 2020, Sydejko was on the air throughout the storm to keep viewers safe. Jason also reported live from Pella after tornadoes caused extensive damage in July 2018.

KCCI News Director Allison Smith said: “Jason is a dedicated and passionate meteorologist who brightens the mood of everyone who works with him. His special ability to make the forecast fun and relatable has earned him a passionate following on-air and social media. Viewers can expect a consistent, accurate, and engaging forecast every weekday morning as they plan for the day ahead.”

“I am excited to have this opportunity at KCCI. I have enjoyed filling in with the team on KCCI 8 News This Morning. Central Iowa has welcomed me, and I am proud to continue my career here,” Sydejko said.

Before joining KCCI, Sydejko was the chief meteorologist at KQDS Duluth, Minn. Before KQDS, he was the weekend meteorologist at WeatherVision based in Jackson, Miss.

He is an 11-time Emmy nominee and holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.

Sydejko graduated from Mississippi State University with a master of science in geosciences. He has bachelor’s degrees in environmental studies and geography from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
