KCCI Rheya Spigner Moves To Weeknight News

Hearst-owned CBS affiliate KCCI Des Moines, Iowa (DMA 68), is moving anchor-reporter Rheya Spigner from weekday mornings to weeknights. On Aug. 3 she will become the anchor of KCCI 8 News at 9 on the station’s MeTV subchannel, and she will co-anchor KCCI 8 News at 5,6, and 10 alongside Stacey Horst and Steve Karlin.

Since joining KCCI in 2016, Spigner has earned recognition for her coverage of societal change. She has led KCCI’s Project CommUNITY coverage and special programs on racism, mental health, immigration and police relations months before those topics became a national conversation.

In addition to special programs she produced weekly profiles, under the CommUNITY Champion brand, on grassroots leaders. Her work was honored in 2019 by the Greenlee School of Journalism at Iowa State University with a Greenlee School and Kappa Tau Alpha Diversity & Inclusion Award.
