KCCI To Broadcast Forums With Des Moines City Council Candidates

Hearst Television’s CBS affiliate KCCI Des Moines, Iowa, will host three forums with Des Moines City Council candidates. KCCI Commitment 2021: Des Moines City Council Forum will be half-hour programs airing across three weeknights leading into the election.

Council Seat: At-large

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 19, 6:30 p.m. Candidates: Connie Boesen, Justyn Lewis. KCCI Moderator: Stacey Horst, anchor/reporter

Council Seat: Ward 1

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 20, 6:30 p.m. Candidates: Marcus Coenen, Bill Gray, Indira Sheumaker. KCCI Moderator: James Stratton, chief investigative reporter

Council Seat: Ward 3

Date: Thursday, Oct. 21, 6:30 p.m. Candidates: Josh Mandelbaum, Cory McAnelly, Brandi Webber. KCCI Moderator: Rheya Spigner, anchor/reporter

KCCI News Director Allison Smith said: “The decisions made in Des Moines’ City Hall echo throughout central Iowa. This election features experienced city leaders and new voices. We want to give voters access to the people who want to lead Iowa’s largest city through today’s challenges and prepare it for the future.”

The forums will be taped on Sunday, Oct. 17, at Franklin Junior High in Des Moines. The public is invited to attend for free. Attendees must show proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test from 72-hours prior to the event.
