KCCI Welcomes Meteorologist Kelley Moody

Meteorologist Kelley Moody is joining Hearst-owned KCCI Des Moines, Iowa (DMA 75). Moody will be getting Central Iowa viewers ready for their day as KCCI 8 News This Morning’s new meteorologist. Her first day at KCCI will be Oct. 7.

Moody is no stranger to severe weather. In her most recent position as a meteorologist in Palm Springs, Calif., she forecast severe heat and storms and covered that state’s dangerous wildfires. She also has wide-ranging experience with field reporting, including in-depth coverage of California’s July 4 earthquake and the extensive damage it left behind.

Moody is a native Californian and has been working in Palm Springs since 2016.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in television and broadcast journalism from Chapman University before earning a certificate in broadcast and operational meteorology from Mississippi State University. She is currently working toward her National Weather Association seal.
