KDFW Ups Blake Hanson To Weekend Evening Anchor

Fox-owned KDFW Dallas (DMA 5) today promoted Blake Hanson to weekend evening anchor at KDFW FOX 4 Dallas, announced station.

Effective Oct. 14, he will solo anchor the Fox 4 News at 6 p.m. and Fox 4 News at 9 p.m. on Saturdays, as well as co-anchor the Fox 4 News at 5 p.m. and Fox 4 News at 9 p.m. on Sundays alongside Natalie Solis. He will also continue to report for the station.

In making the announcement, KDFW VP-News Director Robin Whitmeyer said: “Blake is a strong enterprising journalist. He has been a significant contributor in some of the biggest recent stories, including the Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger’s killing of Bothem Jean, the 2018 midterm elections, Boeing 737 Max jets grounded and Hurricane Harvey coverage, and I know he will bring that same drive, knowledge, and talent to the anchor desk.”

Hanson has been a reporter for the station since July 2017. Prior to that, he was a reporter and anchor for WSOC- Charlotte, N.C. Previously, he was a general assignment and investigative reporter for WDSU New Orleans.

Hanson began his career as an MMJ, anchor and producer for KOMU Columbia, Mo.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Hanson holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
