Kimberlea Bingham Named Managing Editor Of WCVB Boston’s ‘Chronicle’

Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate WCVB Boston has appointed Kimberlea “Kimmy” Bingham managing editor of WCVB Channel its award-winning Chronicle newsmagazine (Monday-Friday, 7:30-8 p.m.), effective Monday, Sept. 19.

Kyle I. Grimes, WCVB president and general manager, said: “Kimmy is a seasoned and accomplished Executive Producer and a valued member of our WCVB team. A talented storyteller with over 20 years of experience in the Boston market, Kimmy is perfectly suited for this new role as Chronicle managing editor given her extensive experience, local knowledge, and outstanding leadership skills.”

Julie Mehegan, Chronicle executive producer, said: “Kimmy is a proven leader and manager, with deep New England roots and a passion for sharing the stories of this special region with our viewers. She is a natural fit for Chronicle, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”

A Newburyport, Mass., native, Bingham not only grew up watching Chronicle; she and her mom often plotted many trips around New England based on the various shows they watched together. Bingham comes to Chronicle with more than two decades of years of experience in the Boston market. Since 2017, she has been executive producer of WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 at 7 and 11 p.m., as well as WCVB’s The 10 O’Clock News on MeTV Boston.

Prior to joining WCVB, Bingham worked at WFXT Boston, first as a news producer beginning in 2002, and then as an executive producer beginning in 2011.

Bingham is a graduate of Newhouse School at Syracuse University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in both broadcast journalism and political science.
