KTTC Reporter Fired After Wearing MAGA Hat While Covering Trump Rally

AUSTIN, MN (AP) — A southern Minnesota television reporter who wore a “Make America Great Again” hat to a Trump rally that he was covering has been fired.

James Bunner was a multimedia journalist for Quincy Media’s KTTC Austin. He wore the hat Thursday while covering President Donald Trump’s appearance in Rochester and images of him wearing the hat began appearing on Twitter.

News Director Noel Sederstrom says the station does not allow staff members to cover stories while wearing apparel from political campaigns. Sederstrom says Bunner was fired Friday.

Bunner doesn’t have a listed phone number and didn’t immediately return a social media message seeking comment Friday.

Why? He violated company dress code policy. If you can’t follow the rules, you should be let go. That’s not new. Besides, if he is so desperate to show his true deplorable nature, I’m sure a Fox station would love to have him. He’ll fit right in with all the alternative facts and daily noon prayers toward Washington D.C.
From what I’m told, he wasn’t that good of a reporter anyway so KTTC did themselves a favor.
