KVDA San Antonio Promotes Ariel Rivera-Vázquez To Chief Meteorologist

Telemundo’s KVDA San Antonio has named Ariel Rivera-Vázquez chief meteorologist, effective immediately.

Delines Alonso, vice president of news, said: “We are honored to have Ariel as our chief meteorologist, he has a strong commitment to maintaining our community well informed, not only during breaking weather events, but every day looking for information that is relevant and interesting to our viewers.”

The station said Rivera-Vázquez’s leadership and experience “has contributed to the success and achievement of La Autoridad en El Tiempo to be named most accurate weather forecast in San Antonio for four years in a row, certified by WeatheRate.”

Rivera-Vázquez has done breaking weather coverage of several events, including hurricane Ida, where he traveled inside the hurricane hunter and the tornado in Medina county. He has more than 20 years of experience in the broadcast industry and has been recognized with several awards, including Best Weather Forecaster in 2017 by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Heartland Chapter.
