KWTX Waco Ups Brady Taylor To Chief Forecaster

Gray Television’s CBS affiliate KWTX Waco, Texas (DMA 89) has promoted veteran KWTX meteorologist Brady Taylor to chief meteorologist effective July 1, succeeding the retiring Rusty Garrrett.

He becomes only the fifth lead forecaster in the TV station’s 64-year history. He most recently has been the meteorologist on KWTX News 10 This Morning.

“It has been a real joy to serve this area for the last 14 years at KWTX, and I’m extremely honored to be named as the next chief meteorologist,” Taylor said.

Taylor has extensive experience both in the Weather Center and in the field, where most recently he used the KWTX Weather Edge to follow the storm that produced the EF-3 tornado that struck Franklin on April 13, providing valuable and potentially life-saving updates.

Retiring Senior Forecaster Garrett made the announcement during the evening newscasts Wednesday, May 15.

“I could not be prouder of Brady and his commitment to severe weather coverage and the people of Central Texas,” Garrett said. “There’s absolutely no one more knowledgeable and humbly deserving to be invited into our viewer’s homes.”

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Taylor says he’s eager to continue KWTX’s legacy coverage and oversee enhancements in weather forecasting technology. “Having been born and raised in Central Texas, I understand how complex and crazy our weather can be,” he said.

Taylor attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville before transferring to Texas A&M University from which he graduated in May 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. He joined the KWTX Weather Authority team that same year as weekend meteorologist.

He’s a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
