DMA 53: PROVIDENCE, RI

Mario Hilario Named WJAR Sunrise Anchor

Longtime WJAR Providence, R.I. (DMA 53), anchor Mario Hilario has been named co-anchor of the Sinclair station’s NBC 10 Sunrise newscast on weekdays, replacing the retiring Frank Coletta. He will join co-anchor Alison Bologna, meteorologist Christina Erne, and traffic reporter Meaghan Mooney.

Hilario has anchored the top-rated weekend edition of Sunrise for the past 22 years. His reporting work has won several “Best of Rhode Island” awards and secured five Emmy nominations. He is also well known for his weekly cooking segments with Chef Frank Terranova, with his signature “mmmm” catchphrase punctuating the tasting of every dish.

In addition, WJAR reporter Lindsay Iadeluca will take on a greater role on Sunrise, covering breaking and consumer news, with a special focus on interacting with viewers on social media during the show. She will also join Meaghan Mooney as one of the hosts of Studio 10, a new lifestyle show launching in September.

Hilario and Iadeluca will assume their new roles after a brief transitional period. Hilario’s replacement on weekends will be named soon.
