Michael Depp Named Chief Content Officer, NewsCheckMedia LLC

Michael Depp, editor of TVNewsCheck, has been named chief content officer of the news outlet’s parent company, NewsCheckMedia LLC.

Depp, who joined NewsCheckMedia in 2012 and took the reins as TVNewsCheck’s editor in 2019, has gradually expanded his role to include event development and production and leadership of the company’s video production effort.

In addition to overseeing the editorial direction and voice of TVNewsCheck, Depp shapes the direction and content of the company’s conferences, including TV2025: Monetizing the Future and NewsTECHForum and a new conference set to be announced in the coming weeks.

He also produces and hosts a weekly video podcast, Talking TV, featuring smart conversations about the business of television, and produces an occasional series, How To, in which experts share pointers about a field in which they excel.

Depp rose to the position of TVNewsCheck editor as the publication’s co-founder, Harry A. Jessell, stepped into semi-retirement. Staying in frequent contact with Jessell, Depp maintained TVNewsCheck’s longtime focus on TV station group business, finance, programming and technology, while expanding its coverage of television journalism and digital media.
