Mike Iscovitz Promoted To Chief Meteorologist At KRIV Houston

Fox-owned KRIV Houston has bumped up Mike Iscovitz to chief meteorologist. He will remain on the station’s weekday morning shows from 4 a.m. through 10 a.m. on WakeUp! With Sally Mac and Lina and Houston’s Morning Show, as well as Fox 26 News @ Noon.

Iscovitz will also continue his weekly livestream Mondays with Mike for the station’s website and social platforms where he discusses various weather topics, from unique cloud formations, to wildfire risks and the threat of drought in Texas.

Susan Schiller, KRIV vice president and news director, said: “There is no one who understands our Gulf Coast weather and the needs of our viewers better than Mike. In more than two decades at the station, he has taken us through multiple life-threatening Hurricanes and tropical storms, such as Harvey in 2017 and Nicholas last year, to deadly TS Allison in 2001 and Texas’ Big Freeze when the power grid failed in 2021. Along with his vast knowledge, Mike brings an easy, relatable, and often amusing weather presentation to our on-air audience and digital viewers.”

Iscovitz has been with KRIV since 2000. Prior to joining the station, he was a meteorologist at KLFY Lafayette, La. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from Florida State University and is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist according to the American Meteorological Society.

Iscovitz said: “This promotion is an honor, but I also recognize that it is a huge responsibility. We have seen more and more frequent extreme weather events here in the Houston area and my team and I will be dedicated to guiding you through natural disasters that will come our way.”
