NewsNation Adds Atlanta Bureau, Correspondent

NewsNation, Nexstar Media Group’s cable network has expanded its nationwide network with a new Atlanta bureau. Former Houston-based reporter Janel Forte will be joining the bureau as its first correspondent.

“The opening of our Atlanta bureau is a strategic step in supporting our mission of bringing Americans fact-based news that represents a full range of perspectives across the nation,” said Susan Tully, senior vice president, local content development for Nexstar Media. “Janel is a talented reporter with experience keeping viewers informed about major events happening across the South, and we’re looking forward to putting her on-the-ground reporting skills to work in our new bureau.”

Forte comes to NewsNation from KHOU Houston, where she covered breaking news in the overnight and morning hours. Forte was first reporter on air after the shooting at Santa Fe High School in May 2018, and her reporting helped earn the station an Edward R. Murrow Award for its coverage of the tragedy.

Forte earned a Bachelor of Science in communication and sociology from Cornell University and a Master of Science in journalism from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism.
