Nexstar Expanding Weekly Political Affairs Program ‘Inside California Politics’

Nexstar Broadcasting will expand Inside California Politics to all six of its television stations serving the largest markets in California on Sept. 13. The 30-minute program will continue to air weekly, examining the political, economic and social issues important to Californians across the state and especially to those living in the local communities served by Nexstar’s television stations. The show features in-depth interviews and original reporting.

Developed and launched earlier this year by KTXL-TV (FOX) in Sacramento by its political reporting team located in the state’s capital, Inside California Politics will now offer the unparalleled opportunity to reach more than 22 million viewers across the state of California.  In addition to airing on KTXL-TV, the show now will also be carried by five other Nexstar television stations serving the state, including:  KTLA-TV (IND) in Los Angeles, KRON-TV (MYNET) in San Francisco, KSWB-TV (FOX) in San Diego, KGET-TV (NBC) in Bakersfield and KGPE-TV (CBS) in Fresno.  Viewers can also watch the show by visiting their local Nexstar station’s website in each of these cities (See table below for more details).

Inside California Politics will continue to leverage the network of experienced journalists across Nexstar’s California television stations and take advantage of the expertise of the reporters based at its Sacramento and Washington, D.C., news bureaus.  The combination provides for statewide reach and a unique perspective on issues impacting California and its residents. In addition to comprehensive interviews with political and business leaders throughout the state, the show will invite a team of journalists “Inside the Bullpen” to offer local analysis of the week’s most pressing political issues.

Inside California Politics will be hosted from Los Angeles by KTLA-TV anchor, Frank Buckley, and from Sacramento by KTXL-TV anchor, Nikki Laurenzo.  Viewers are invited to engage in the discussion each week by following the show @CAinsider and by tweeting using #insideCApolitics.

“Since it was launched last February in Sacramento, ‘Inside California Politics’ has developed a loyal following and provided local viewers with up-to-the-minute reporting and a fresh perspective on national, state, and local political issues,” said Tim Busch, president of Nexstar Broadcasting. “Expanding this programming to all of the state’s other major markets is another demonstration of Nexstar’s commitment to providing innovative and impactful local content to the communities we serve.  As the November election approaches, this exclusive programming offers voters an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates running for office and better understand their positions on the issues. We are extremely pleased to harness the assets of Nexstar’s broadcasting and digital operations in California to immediately expand ‘Inside California Politics’ across the state.”
