Tribune Broadcasting Gets Google News Grant
Tribune Broadcasting said Monday it has been awarded a grant from Google News Initiative/YouTube Innovation Program to support building stronger video capabilities and innovate new formats of video storytelling across the group’s newsrooms.
The Google News Initiative/YouTube Innovation funding will support news organizations in 23 countries, with Tribune Broadcasting chosen as one of two broadcast media groups in the US.
Bart Feder, SVP/news, Tribune Broadcasting, said: “Tribune Broadcasting is pleased to be among a select group of organizations from around the world to participate in the Google News Initiative. We look forward to using the resources to further enhance and expand our multi-platform video storytelling in and across our 29 news markets — to forge even deeper connections with our diverse audiences and communities.”
Tribune Broadcasting’s winning proposal calls for developing a diversity and inclusion storytelling arm of the group’s collective news operations to enhance and broaden its audiences, empowering Tribune’s journalists to experiment with different storytelling devices including animation, music, stop-motion, 360 video and documentary-style video to air across all platforms.
