DMA 16: MIAMI

WAMI Miami Expands Local News Coverage

Univision Communications has announced an expansion of local news coverage on its UniMás affiliate WAMI Miami (DMA 16).

Three live half-hour Noticias 23 on UniMás newscasts on UniMás will air Monday through Friday at 5, 5:30 and 10 p.m. Noticias 23 “will provide a different take on local news for Miami-Dade residents” the station said and will be produced by Univision’s Miami O&O WLTV, Univision 23.

WAMI is available on Xfinity ch. 23; DirectTV ch. 408, Dish ch. 69 and Uverse ch. 3005.
The Noticias 23 on UniMás newscasts at 5 and 5:30 will be hosted by Sandra Peebles and Mario Vallejo. The hour-long broadcast will introduce a more conversational, informal style. Peebles will also anchor the 10 p.m. edition and will share the newsdesk with co-anchor Ambrosio Hernandez, who also anchors WLTV’s 6 p.m. newscast.

All three newscasts will deliver in-depth coverage of the most important local news of the day along with breaking news reports. Noticias 23 on UniMás will also feature popular local radio talent from Mix 98.3 (WRTO-FM) and social influencers from the Univision Creator Network to share pop culture and entertainment news.

“Miami is not only the third largest Hispanic DMA in the United States, but it is also the beating heart of our business as our company’s headquarters are located here. As we continue to reinvest in our core business of local news, the feeling around Univision Noticias was that we should start right here in our own hometown,” said Claudia Puig, WAMI president-GM. “By launching the Noticias 23 on UniMás newscasts, we intend to over-serve by further informing and empowering the Latino community here in Miami with the weather, local happenings and breaking news that matters to them most.”

Viewers can get the latest news and join the conversation on Noticias 23 on UniMás by following WAMI via the Univision Miami app.
