WBNS, WTHR Beef Up Political Commitment

The Dispatch Broadcast Group stations expand coverage leading up to the midterm elections by carrying debates, weekly political shows plus online offerings.

WBNS in Columbus, Ohio (DMA 34), and WTHR TV in Indianapolis (DMA 28) say they are devoting extensive additional resources to cover this year’s landmark midterm elections.

“It is our commitment to deliver expanded, multi-platform, political coverage to our communities we serve,” say Dispatch Broadcast Group executives Larry Delia, WTHR president-GM and President of Dispatch Broadcast Group, and John Cardenas, WBNS president-GM. “We are significantly increasing and offering much more robust political coverage on our television, digital and social platforms that viewers rely on.”

WBNS is covering all three gubernatorial debates, the Senate debate and extended coverage of the 12th District’s congressional election all live on air, digitally on 10TV.com and on its social platforms. WBNS will feature live streaming digitally and on the WBNS mobile app plus interactive displays making it easier to track results.

Additionally, WBNS airs Face the State, a weekly program that showcases everything that happens in Washington, D.C., and at the statehouse in Columbus.

The show takes an insider’s view of politics and challenges those in power.

WTHR will host Indiana’s U.S. Senate candidates Joe Donnelly (D) and Mike Braun (R) in-studio in a one-hour special, Decision 2018: Indiana Insiders. The exclusive program showcases the candidates in one of the most closely watched races in the country. Additionally, WTHR will air both Indiana Debate Commission’s U.S. Senate debates.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

WTHR’s digital platforms will provide live results for all key races as well as custom, real-time visualizations to help voters track Indiana results and the balance of power on Capitol Hill. Live streams of WTHR’s election coverage will also be provided on wthr.com, Facebook, the WTHR mobile app, and the 13Now TV app.
