Gray Television’s Fox affiliate WBRC Birmingham, Ala., today added Meaghan Thomas as a meteorologist.
She received her bachelor’s degree in broadcast news & geography from the University of Alabama before furthering her education at Mississippi State University where she received her master’s degree in Broadcast Meteorology.
In addition to her education, Thomas has also received her Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal from the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
Her previous work experience includes time as a meteorologist in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, where she received first-hand experience covering tornado outbreaks. In addition to her time as a meteorologist, Thomas has worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama and a teaching assistant at Mississippi State University.
WBRC Chief Meteorologist Wes Wyatt said: “Forecasting in Alabama just got better with the addition of meteorologist Meaghan Thomas to the WBRC First Alert Weather Team. She is committed to keeping our customers safe and I am thrilled to welcome her back to Central Alabama and to WBRC. Meaghan’s experience will only improve our weather team’s mission to inform early … and protect the people of Central Alabama.”
Thomas joining the WBRC First Alert Weather team will bring the station’s total number of meteorologists back to eight, which makes the WBRC FOX6 News First Alert Weather team “the largest weather department in the state of Alabama,” WBRC said.
