WGN Morning News is celebrating 30 years on the air with in-show surprises, social media features and more. Throughout September, the Nexstar Chicago station’s morning show will visit with old friends, look back at famous fails and more.
Viewers are invited to follow along on social media under the hashtag #WGNMorningNews30, which will include a series of vignettes of the cast’s earliest memories of the show. Longtime WGN Morning News Anchor Larry Potash recently celebrated his own 30th anniversary at WGN, which co-anchor Robin Baumgarten celebrated here.
“WGN Morning News started out as ‘the little engine that could’ and turned into the juggernaut that keeps rolling,” said WGN News Director Dominick Stasi. “They do what no other morning show in Chicago does. Our morning team is unique and has become a daily part of the routine for many Chicagoans.”
Recently, viewers were invited to enter the “WGN Morning News 30th Anniversary Grand Prize Game Contest,” yielding more than 4,000 entries. Four fans, chosen in a random drawing, will get the chance to play the Grand Prize Game live on WGN Morning News from Tuesday, Sept. 3, until the anniversary date on Sept. 6. What can they win? Check it out here.
Today, WGN Morning News also streams live on the free WGN+ app available on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and select Samsung Smart TVs; and online at WGNTV.com/Live and the WGN News mobile app.
