WNJU Adds Marte, Bretón To News Team

Telemundo-owned WNJU New York (DMA 1) has hired reporters Eliecer Marte and Rosarina Bretón to its news team. Both will provide breaking news and general assignment coverage starting Nov. 14 and Nov. 19, respectively.

Marte joins WNJU following more than four years as a national correspondent for the Univision network. In this role, Marte covered Tri-State news for a national audience from Univision’s New York bureau, as well as numerous national and international stories from the Miami bureau. He also hosted Univision’s national entertainment news show Sal Y Pimienta.

Prior to joining Univision, Marte worked as a correspondent for Mundo Fox and Spanish Broadcasting System. He was also a contributor to CNN’s Showbiz en Español. Fully bilingual, Marte is of Dominican ancestry and a graduate of the University of Miami where he earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.

Bretón joins WNJU following nearly a decade with NY1, where she was a breaking news reporter, traffic reporter and weekend anchor for NY1 Noticias.  In this role, Bretón covered many of the Tri-State’s most memorable stories including Superstorm Sandy in 2012, Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, the Halloween Terror attacks of 2017 and numerous local, statewide and national elections.

Fully bilingual, Bretón is of Dominican ancestry and a graduate of the City College of the City University of New York where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
