Telemundo’s WNJU New York has added meteorologist Florencia Giménez to its La Autoridad en El Tiempo (Weather Authority) team. She will be weekend weather anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 47 Fin de Semana at 6 and 11 p.m. and will also support Telemundo 47’s weekday newscasts. Her on-air debut will be in late July.

With the addition of Giménez, Telemundo says WNJU “will become the Tri-State’s only Spanish language television station with four certified broadcast meteorologists. The station’s commitment to delivering trusted, accurate and informative weather forecasts has been recognized by WeatheRate for the past three years, which certified WNJU’s La Autoridad en el Tiempo team as the ‘Most Accurate’ in the New York DMA.”

Freddy Oldenburg, WNJU vice president of news, said: “We are excited for Florencia to join our La Autoridad en El Tiempo team as a full-time broadcast meteorologist. Florencia worked as a substitute weather anchor for Telemundo 47 this spring and made a wonderful connection with our audience. Her passion for delivering accurate forecasts and keeping viewers safe and informed was clear for all to see.”

Giménez joins WMJU following three years as a weekday weather anchor for KTDO El Paso, Texas, where she led special coverage on the region’s annual monsoon season, keeping viewers informed prior to – and during severe weather. She also was a weekend weather anchor at KTAZ Phoenix, was a collaborator on Telemundo Network’s Al Rojo Vivo, a host on Televisa Ciudad Juárez and was a correspondent for several international television programs, including El Gordo y La Flaca, Escándalo TV, Don Francisco and Revista Tv y Novelas.

A native of Argentina who grew up in Mexico, Giménez holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies from Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua and earned her Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
