CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Paul Orlousky, a longtime investigative news reporter for WOIO Channel 19, announced Saturday morning that he intends to retire.
The veteran journalist writes on his Facebook page that it hit him a couple months that it was time for him to retire.
“I told the television station a few weeks ago about my intention to retire at the end of January,” he wrote. “Word is getting out so it is time to tell everyone. I’m not going to go on and on here so in short I’ve been doing this since September 1, 1969 as a 16 year old kid about to start his Senior year in high school.”
Orlousky says he and his wife Kim will stay in the Cleveland area for the time being.
Orlousky reflects on the many people he interviewed in the 50 years and four months he’s worked as a journalist and states he has been blessed to work with some of the best in the industry.
Prior to coming to WOIO Channel 19, Orlousky created WKYC-TV’s investigative reporting team, according to his biography on WOIO Channel 19′s website, where he was featured on Northern Ohio Live magazine as the “most effective investigative reporter.
Orlousky was born in Elmira, New York, and started his career in radio while still in high school, according to the biography. He graduated from State University of New York and got his television start in places such as Binghamton, New York, and Youngstown.
