WWSI Makes Changes To Anchor Lineup

Telemundo’s WWSI Philadelphia today announced that morning anchor Syrmarie Villalobos will be moving to co-owned WZDC Washington.

Iris Delgado will take over the mid-day anchor role on WWSI’s Al Mediodía weekdays at noon in addition to her current role co-anchoring the early evening newscasts with Alberto Rullán. Alondra Anaya will anchor the weekday morning news cut-ins in addition to her role as weather anchor on Al Mediodía alongside Delgado. Telemundo62 Responde reporter Yaima Crespo will take over as host of Enfoque, WWSI’s weekly public affairs show airing Sundays at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

“Syrmarie has been a great advocate and supporter of our Hispanic communities since joining Telemundo62 nearly three years ago,” said Ana Hernandez, WWSI news director. “In that time, she helped launch Telemundo62’s morning and mid-day newscasts, as well as the weekly public affairs show Enfoque. She also traveled to Puerto Rico to cover the one-year anniversary of Hurricane María, the political crisis in the Island and the recent earthquakes. Our loss is Telemundo44’s gain but I’m certain that DC-area viewers will benefit from her energy, enthusiasm and expertise and immediately connect with her.”

Villalobos will start her new role as an afternoon anchor/reporter on Oct. 26 at WZDC. Her last day on air at WWSI will be Friday, Oct. 9.
