Magid Ups Marissa Nelson, Adds Her To Local Media Leadership Team

Magid today promoted Marissa Nelson, who will join the company’s local media leadership team as vice president, consulting. In this position, Marissa will lead the local media core consulting team and play a critical role in defining and executing the division’s overarching strategy.

The news executive joined Magid in July 2020, bringing 20 years of multi-platform journalism experience, including network and local media.

“Marissa has been a tremendous addition to the team – she’s a strategic thinker who has successfully delivered on client goals and driven growth for our best-in-class consulting service,” said Jaime Spencer, executive vice president, head of local media at Magid. “On top of that, her extensive background across media platforms and deep leadership experience is perfectly suited to help our team attack the challenges in the local media business.”

Immediately prior to joining Magid, Nelson led the local media operations for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC) in Ontario. She led a group of multiplatform stations (including three TV markets), seven radio stations and one digital-only station.

She also previously ran digital for CBC, making it the top digital news source in the country, as well as Canada’s largest newspaper, the Toronto Star. She started her career as a newspaper reporter.
