KASA Debuts Locally Produced ‘Noticias Telemundo Nuevo México’ Newscasts

Beginning today, Telemundo Nuevo México — KASA Albuquerque, N.M. —  will deliver offer its Noticias Telemundo Nuevo México at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on weekdays. The launch of KASA’s locally produced newscasts follows NBCUniversal Local’s recent acquisition of KASA. With this acquisition, NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo station footprint expanded from 30 to 31 markets.

Alejandro Contreras will anchor both newscasts. He will be joined by reporters Sergio Guerrero and Jaime Prieto. In partnership with KOB-TV, the NBC O&O in the market, KASA’s news programs will be produced from KOB’s studios. In addition, KOB bilingual Meteorologist Ivan Cabrera will deliver local weather forecasts for KASA’s news audiences.

Contreras joined the KASA team in 2016 as reporter. Before this, he worked at Univision New Mexico in multiple roles with increasing responsibility including News Anchor and News Director. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua in Mexico.

Guerrero has been part of the KASA news team since 2019. He will continue to serve as reporter. Before this, he worked at the local Univision station. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Prieto joined KASA in 2017 as reporter and will continue to in this role. Before this, he worked at KLUZ Albuquerque  from 2013 to 2016 as reporter and editor. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of New Mexico.
