Meteorologist Art Jarrett Joins WDSU New Orleans

Hearst Television NBC affiliate WDSU New Orleans has hired meteorologist Art Jarrett to join Randi Rousseau and Chad Sabadie on WDSU News This Morning, weekday mornings from 4:30 to 7 a.m. He starts later this month.

Jarrett joins WDSU from Hearst’s KSBW (NBC) and Central Coast ABC in Monterey-Salinas, Calif., where he started on weekends in 2010 and moved into the role of weekday morning meteorologist in 2015.

Jarrett received his Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in radio, television and film broadcasting from San Jose State University.

During his tenure at KSBW, Jarrett covered hundreds of hours of severe weather including countless wildfires, mudslides, air quality risks, flooding and rolling debris.

Most recently, Jarrett covered California’s record-setting 2020 wildfire season that claimed numerous lives, displaced hundreds of residents and damaged more than four million acres of land.  Jarrett’s forecasts on the changing weather conditions provided California’s Central Coast residents the information they needed to stay safe and evacuate when necessary.
