WPVI Philadelphia Moves Sarah Bloomquist To 4 P.M. Anchor Team

ABC-owned WPVI Philadelphia has named Sarah Bloomquist to its 4 p.m. Action News anchor team, effective immediately, joining Brian Taff, Alicia Vitarelli and meteorologist Adam Joseph. Bloomquist, a 19-year veteran of Action News, has most recently split her time between co-anchoring Action News at Noon and co-anchoring the Sunday evening newscasts.

Since joining WPVI in August 2002, Bloomquist has covered many major stories, including reporting live from Maryland during the sniper scare, and following the Philadelphia Eagles and their faithful fans during the 2002-03 run for the Super Bowl.

Prior to joining WPVI, Bloomquist worked at WTVG, the formally ABC-owned station in Toledo, Ohio, where she was a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter. In 2002, Bloomquist was awarded first place in the Spot News Category from the Associated Press of Ohio for her coverage from New York of the Sept. 11 attacks. She was also nominated for two Emmy Awards for her live coverage from Ground Zero. In 2001, she was named Best Reporter in Ohio by the Associated Press.

Bloomquist graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a major in history and a minor in French. She holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
