Calachino Named VP, GM Of Tampa’s WTOG

Michelle Calachino was tapped to replace Stan Gill at the CBS Television Stations' Tampa station on Friday. She has been with WTOG since 2014 and worked as its financial controller.

Veteran local media executive Michelle Calachino has been named vice president and general manager of WTOG-TV (The CW44) and CWTampa.com, the CBS Television Stations’ properties in Tampa-St. Petersburg. The announcement was made Friday by Peter Dunn, president, CBS Television Stations. Calachino is succeeding Stan Gill, who earlier this year retired following six years at WTOG and 41 years in the television industry.

Calachino has been with WTOG since June 2014 and has served as the station’s financial controller.

“We are fortunate to have a talented and experienced team of managers at WTOG, and are pleased to be able to recognize Michelle’s leadership abilities and commitment with this promotion,” Dunn said. “We look forward to having her and her teammates capitalize on our opportunities for growth and success in the Tampa-St. Petersburg market.”

“I am proud and honored to be part of the talented team at WTOG-TV, and am excited to have the opportunity to take on this new role,” Calachino said. “I am grateful for Peter’s faith in me and very much appreciate the support we get from him and our CBS and CW colleagues. Working together, we look forward to continuing to do a great job of serving our viewers, clients and community partners.”

Prior to joining WTOG in 2014, Calachino served as the Chief Financial Officer for the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority, a public agency charged with revitalization of underinvested areas in the City of New Orleans. Her local media management experience also includes serving as the financial controller for Entercom Radio stations in New Orleans, Business Manager for Entercom’s stations in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Director of Finance/Regional Controller for iHeartMedia’s radio stations in Washington, DC and Baltimore.

A Pennsylvania native, Calachino earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Marywood University in Scranton, and master’s of accountancy from the University of Scranton.
