KNTV San Jose to provide election coverage online

NBC O&O KNTV San Jose, Calif., will deliver live, up-to-the-minute election results on www.NBC11.com on Tuesday, Nov. 7, starting when the polls close at 8 p.m. Online coverage will include live reports and interviews from candidates’ headquarters and from Washington DC, and will feature immediate results on all local and national races and ballot initiatives as they become available. The station’s NBC11 News at 11 p.m. will be a full hour and will be simulcast both on-air and online on election night.

“Our online election night coverage in November 2005 resulted in a dramatic increase in visits to our Web site. Bay Area viewers appreciate watching live election coverage online while enjoying NBC primetime shows on the air. Once again this election night, we will give viewers the choice, control and convenience they want,” said KNTV Vice President of News Jim Sanders.

In the months leading up to the elections, NBC11.com has featured five San Jose mayoral debates and one Santa Clara County District Attorney debate. A Politics page on NBC11.com provides video coverage on candidates, propositions and measures as well as video coverage created specifically for the Web. KNTV reporter Mike Luery’s blog “The Capital Insider” covers California’s Capital and keeps tabs on politicians and issues important to the Bay Area.
