CBS NAMES FABACHER TO HEAD DETROIT DUOPOLY

Transfering from KSTW Seattle, Fabacher will replace Shaun McDonald, who is taking over the CBS stations in southern Florida.

Trey Fabacher has been named VP/GM of CBS’s Detroit duopoly, WWJ (CBS) and WKBD (CW), it was announced today by Tom Kane, president/CEO, CBS Television Stations.

Fabacher, most recently VP/GM of KSTW Seattle, replaces Shaun McDonald, who was recently named president/GM of CBS’s South Florida operations.

“Detroit is a very competitive, challenging market that requires your very best managers, and Trey fits that bill,” said Kane. “He has quickly become one of our most dependable GMs who has delivered for us at every assignment, whether it’s Minneapolis or Seattle. I’m confident he will continue the positive direction the stations had begun under Shaun McDonald, and I look forward to working with him in this new role.”

Fabacher said he was excited by the Detroit opportunity. “We’ve got two strong stations in the Detroit market, which are affiliated with two great networks,” he said. “This is a tremendous opportunity, and I’m very anxious to start working with Tom, Anton and all the dedicated staffers at WWJ and WKBD.

Prior to KSTW, Fabacher was station manager of WCCO Minneapolis. Before that, he served as general sales manager at KSTP, the Hubbard Broadcasting-owned ABC affiliate in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

He also worked as local sales manager for WDWB, the Granite Broadcasting-owned WB affiliate in Detroit, in addition to serving as local sales manager and national sales manager for more almost four years at WFTC, the Fox-owned station in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Fabacher also worked as a national account sales rep for Blair Television in Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Chicago markets. He got his start at NBC’s Television Station Division, where he worked as a spot sales intern/ sales pricing analyst.

He has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast sales and management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
