FCC’S ADELSTEIN TO ADDRESS ISIS-NYC ’06

The commissioner is the keynoter for the new satellite conference with a Wall Street focus. It's slated for Nov. 28 in midtown Manhattan.

FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein is scheduled to present the keynote luncheon speech at ISIS-NYC ’06, a new satellite communications investment conference slated for Tuesday, Nov. 28, in New York City.

Although focused on the Wall Street community and its constituencies, executives from the legal, regulatory, marketing, technical and peripheral industries have already signed up to attend and sponsor the conference, which will be held at a special meeting center of the Jones Day law firm, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., in midtown Manhattan.

The ISIS-NYC ’06 event coincides with the Satcon Conference & Expo satellite trade show at the Javits Center the next day and the Society of Satellite Professionals fundraising dinner on the evening of Nov. 28.

Appointed by President Bush in 2002, Adelstein is expected to address a number of questions: What will the FCC do with new spectrum bands, especially those trying to meld terrestrial with space-based infrastructures? What’s hot in DBS and satellite radio? What has been the effect of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on Wall Street and its constituents? What does the Democratic Congress mean for the FCC and satellite industry regulation?

The day-long conference will feature five panel sessions featuring satellite radio, fixed satellite service, mobile satellite and broadcasting executives. Top Wall Street analysts including Craig Moffett, Ben Swinburne, Tom Watts, Bob Peck, Armand Musey, Steve Mather and April Horace are also scheduled.

Topics will include IPTV, Digital TV/syndex, mobile video services and numerous competitive concerns. The one-day financial summit is the only industry event focused exclusively on the financial foundations of the $85 billion satellite communications marketplace.
