KOMO Seattle names Rocca exec. prod. of Problem Solvers

KOMO Seattle Investigative Reporter Liz Rocca has been appointed executive producer of the station’s Problem Solver unit. Her new duties will involve managing the day-to-day operation of the group of investigative reporters as well as continuing to work on her own stories.

In making the announcement KOMO Vice President and General Manager Jim Clayton said: “It is great to have such a talented and accomplished investigative journalist head our Problem Solvers team. Liz’s background makes her ideally suited for this position.”

Rocca was the first reporter in the nation to break the story of Gary Ridgway’s arrest in the Green River serial murder case in November 2001. Ridgway was subsequently convicted of 48 murders. Most recently, she exposed the use of the city of Seattle’s new automatic toilets as dens of prostitution, drug trafficking and drug use.

“I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity and the new challenges that lie ahead. This will allow us to produce more hard-hitting, in-depth reports that not only shine the light on what’s wrong, but also set out to fix it and make the community stronger,” Rocca commented. She added: “That’s what Problem Solvers is all about and it’s what our viewers have come to expect, and what they deserve.”
