WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

A Very Mixed Bag For Syndies

The majority of syndicated shows were flat or down in the week ending March 5 with a few exceptions. Among those posting seek-to-week gains were two talk shows (led by Dr. Phil with a 17% rise), one court show and four magazine shows.

Live with Kelly and Ryan continued to top the talkers with an unchanged 1.6 Nielsen Syndication Service national rating for the week ending March 5. Soon to depart first-run Dr. Phil held on to second, but climbed 17% to a 1.4.

Kelly Clarkson was also on the upswing, growing 11% to a 1.0 and claiming third place in the genre.

The three top game shows also took win, place, and show for all of syndication with Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune remaining at a 5.5 and 5.2, respectively, while Family Feud dipped 6% to a third-place 5.0. The top three outdistanced their competition by more than a factor of five.

Judge Judy continued to lead the courtrooms despite a 2% breather to a 4.2. CBS stablemate Hot Bench, unchanged at a 1.2, was second, while Warner Bros.’ People’s Court jumped 14% to a third place 0.8.

Four of the top five magazines rose. Inside Edition climbed 9% to a 2.4. Entertainment Tonight added 10% to a 2.2. TMZ picked up 17% to a 0.7, while Extra, with the biggest gain of all, improved 20% to a 0.6.

Among the off-net sitcoms Big Bang Theory continued to lead. Despite dipping 5% to a 2.0, it got more than twice the 0.8 of the No. 2 series, Last Man Standing.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Third place was a three-way tie between Modern Family, Young Sheldon and Two and A Half Men all with a 0.7.
