WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Double-Digit Drives For ‘Clarkson’ And ‘Hall’

Both talk shows scored double-digit increases in the week ending Aug. 29 despite being nearly or totally in reruns and facing plenty of daytime preemptions for breaking Afghanistan news.

Sophomores Kelly Clarkson and Tamron Hall, the only two talkers in the plus column, lit up the Nielsen chart in the session ending Aug. 29. Both scored double-digit increases despite being nearly or totally in reruns and facing plenty of daytime preemptions for breaking Afghanistan news.

Clarkson climbed 14% from the week before to tie Ellen DeGeneres at a 0.8 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, while Hall surged 17% to tie Wendy Williams, Rachel Ray and Steve Wilkos at a 0.7.

Live with Kelly and Ryan, the top-rated talk show of the season, held its ground at a 1.6 and swept to first place in the category for the 16th week even though it was still on its summer hiatus, airing repackaged episodes and repeats all week.

Hot Bench was the only court show moving up, spiking 7% to a 1.5 and ranking as the third highest daytime strip behind only Judge Judy and Live.

In access, game show Jeopardy, which has recently become a public relations pinata, slipped 3% to a new season low 3.9 with a second straight week of “Around the World with Alex” archival reruns.

Game show and syndication champ Family Feud fell 2% to a 5.6.
