‘Entertainment Tonight’ Takes A Ratings Leap To Tie ‘Inside Edition’ For The Top Magazine Slot

It surged 16% from the previous frame to a five-week high 2.2 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating in the week ending May 8.

Entertainment Tonight made the biggest upward move among magazines as May got under in the session ending May 8. The star-studded series surged 16% from the previous frame to a five-week high 2.2 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, and caught up to Inside Edition at the top of the newsmaker chart.

Edition picked up 5%, while Access Hollywood took over the No. 3 slot, spiking 14% to a 0.8 in households and improving 33% in the key women 25-54 demo.

In daytime, the big talkers had plenty of positive things to say. Dr. Phil and Live with Kelly and Ryan each shot up 7% to a 1.6 and stayed deadlocked in first place for a third straight week.

Epic talk show Ellen DeGeneres, in its 19th and final season, continued to create excitement, jumping 11% both week to week and year over year to a 1.0. After hosting more than 4,000 guests, Ellen will preside over the show’s last original episode on May 26.

And not to be outdone, Tamron Hall flourished with a 17% spike to a 0.7.

Nielsen also gave a big nod to Judge Judy as syndicated television’s supreme court climbed 7% to 4.6 verdict.
