‘Family Feud’ Flies To New Season High
The recently renewed Family Feud flourished in the session ending Jan. 29, sprinting 4% from the prior frame to a new season high 5.3 live-plus-same-day national rating.
The only other strip in syndication’s Top 4 heading north was the daytime Nielsen juggernaut Judge Judy, which surged 7% to a 10-week high 4.6. Judy’s latest jump came despite the show being out of original production since the end of the 2020-21 season.
In talk show action, the sole program in the Top 10 seeing a weekly increase was the No. 4 gabfest Drew Barrymore, which ballooned 13% to a 0.9 and 50% from last year at this time.
Live with Kelly and Ryan took a breather and backed off 6% to a 1.6, but was still the one to beat in talk for the 36th week in a row.
Dr. Phil, which is planning to pull the plug on its original production after 21 seasons, made it interesting. The good doctor just missed, with a steady 1.5 rating, while notching a new season high in the key women 25-54 demo.
The most robust rookie mover was Pictionary, which picked up 25% to a 0.5.
BRAND CONNECTIONS
Dish Nation was notable among magazines, motoring ahead 50% to a 0.3.
And finally, among off-net sitcoms Big Bang Theory made the biggest ratings bang even though its Nielsen balloon deflated 5% to a 2.0.
The top talk shows for the week among women 25-54 were:
- Dr. Phil (0.6, +20% from the week before), tied with Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.6, unchanged)
- Drew Barrymore (0.4, unchanged)
