Fox O&Os Add ‘Extra’ In 7 Big Markets

Cleared in 93% of the country for fall 2019, the syndicated entertainment magazine from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution will join the FTS lineups in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Orlando and Charlotte, N.C.

Extra, the Emmy award-winning syndicated entertainment news magazine, has been acquired by the Fox Television Stations (FTS) in seven major markets, beginning in the fall of 2019. This acquisition is the latest in a string of programming collaborations between Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and FTS.

Cleared in 93% of the country for fall 2019, Extra will join the FTS lineups in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Orlando and Charlotte, N.C. The series is already airing on Fox O&O’s in Chicago, Washington and Detroit.  As of fall 2019, the series will air on 10 Fox-owned stations.

In making the announcement, Frank Cicha, SVP, programming, FTS, said: “This deal is a win-win for two companies with a strong history together. Extra fits right into our day and date strategy and the stations will be ready to ensure its continued success. While it’s targeted primarily for big time periods, it can run all over the place and we’ll take advantage of that. And, there will be great opportunities to work with our news departments as well.”

Added Ken Werner, president, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution: “We at Warner Bros. are thrilled to continue to expand our programing partnership with the Fox Stations. They are at the forefront of successfully meeting the challenges of the television environment by creating destinations in their local communities for live compelling programming. Extra is the perfect franchise to add to their lineup, bringing a unique angle on the events of the day in the entertainment industry.”
