Impeachment Takes The Steam Out Of Syndication

Many daytime syndies were preempted by the second Trump trial in the week ending Feb. 14, with very few shows able to muster an advance over the previous session.

The Trump impeachment trial did a number on daytime syndication in the session ending Feb. 14, a week in which many shows were broken out.

Among the talk shows, Live with Kelly and Ryan led the pack despite dipping 10% to a 1.8. Dr. Phil placed second after losing 26% to a 1.4 (it’s on primarily in the afternoon on the East Coast when the hearings were held).

Maury took an 18% hit to a 0.9. Ellen DeGeneres was fortunate to remain steady at a 1.0.

Rachael Ray was unchanged at a 0.9 in a tie with Kelly Clarkson. Tamron Hall was unchanged 0.8, as was Steve Wilkos, also unchanged at a 0.8. Dr. Oz was down 14% to a 0.6.

Among the game shows, Jeopardy ceded the lead to Wheel of Fortune, which held steady at a 5.8. Jeopardy dipped 8% to a 5.6, landing in a tie with Family Feud for second, which inched ahead 2% to a 5.6.

Among courtrooms, leader Judge Judy dipped 16% to a 4.8. Hot Bench remained stable at a 1.8 in second place. Peoples Court held steady at a 1.0.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Magazines had an upset at the top. Entertainment Tonight was one of the few strips to improve, up 4% to a 2.4. It was the only magazine to advance from the previous week.

The No. 2 magazine. Inside Edition, eased 8% to a 2.2. Access Hollywood retreated 10% to a 0.9. TMZ was down 11% to a 0.8, while Extra was unchanged at a 0.7 and Daily Mail TV backtracked 14% to a 0.6
