WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Jeopardy’ Is The Answer To ‘Who’s On First?’

It leads both the game show category and all of syndication in the week ending July 31, inching out Family Feud.

The see-saw battle for game show bragging rights between Family Feud and Jeopardy continued during the dog days of summer session ending July 31. This time, Jeopardy took back the syndication title, inching up 2% to a 5.2 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, and just edging last week’s leader Feud, which fell 2% to a 5.1.

The only magazines moving higher were Extra — which surged 20% in households to a 0.6 and 50% in the key demo — and TMZ, which spiked 17% in households to a 0.7 and 33% in the demo.

Last week, Extra’s extremely popular executive producer, Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, created industry shock waves with the bombshell that she was leaving the show after 22 years. Highly regarded hit-makers Theresa Coffino and Jeremy Spiegel will reportedly take the reins.

In talk show action, most strips were content to hold their ground as Live with Kelly and Ryan snagged sole possession of first place with a solid 1.5.

Dr. Phil dipped 7% to a still-strong second-place 1.4.

Drew Barrymore, which has been renewed for a third season, was the big gainer in the category, climbing 25% to a 0.5.
