WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Jeopardy,’ ‘Judy,’ ‘Live,’ ‘Inside Edition’ Top The Genres, Again

There were few surprises in the week ending April 2, as many shows finished flat or rose only by single digits.

If syndication were sentient, people would tell it to make up its mind. As it is, syndication in the week ending April 2 — is a bit of a muddle.

According to the Nielsen National Syndication Service, Jeopardy continued to lead with a 5.3 household rating, up 2% from the prior week. It was followed by Wheel of Fortune (4.9, up 9%) and Family Feud (4.6, down 4%) which swapped places week to week. Most of the rest of the games remained steady.

Live with Kelly and Ryan led the yakkers with 1.6, up 7%, and 0.6 in the women 25-54 demo, up 20%. Dr. Phil remained in second despite an 8% lift to 1.3 and a 25% demo surge to 0.5. There was a tie for third place with Kelly Clarkson shedding 10% to 0.9, the rating at which competitor Drew Barrymore held since the previous frame, although Barrymore beat Clarkson in the demo, 0.4 to 0.3.

Among the rookies, Sherri lead and was flat at a 0.7, while Jennifer Hudson held firm at 0.6.

Despite being in reruns, the redoubtable Judge Judy rose 5% to 4.2, continuing to dominate the court genre. Second-place Hot Bench gave back 8% to 1.1, while People’s Court surged 14% to 0.8, holding onto show position.

Magazine leader Inside Edition picked up 10% to 2.3, breaking a tie with Entertainment Tonight (2.1, unchanged). Access Hollywood and TMZ tied for third with 0.7, the former down 13%.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

The top six off-net sitcoms were all unchanged with Big Bang Theory at 1.8 and Last Man Standing at 1.1. Modern Family, Young Sheldon and Two and A Half Men (all steady) were all joined by Family Guy, which was up 17%, at 0.7 in a four-way tie.

Among the off-net weekly hours, Dateline continued to lead with 3.5, a 3% breather from the prior week. Law & Order SVU jumped 25% to 2.0, and Chicago Fire was third at 1.1.

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA means not applicable.
