WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Jeopardy’ Moves Back Into First-Place Tie

Interim host Mayim Bialik helps move the game up to a 5.4 in the session ending Sept. 26, joining Family Feud at the top.

Jeopardy had the right answer with interim host Mayim Bialik in the session ending Sept. 26, as it edged up 6% from the week before to a 5.4 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, to tie usual syndication leader Family Feud. The last time Jeopardy was at the top of the chart was more than five months ago. Feud, which had not yet begun its new season, was also in positive territory, adding 2% to a 5.4.

In daytime, some shows were preempted for coverage of President Biden’s remarks at the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 21. Nevertheless, Dr. Phil had the loudest voice in the talk show world, spiking 6% to a healthy 19-week high 1.8 and gaining sole possession of first place in the category.

Live with Kelly and Ryan was a strong second despite dipping 6% to a 1.6.

Ellen DeGeneres was the third highest of the 15 talkers, doing well to hold its ground at a 1.0, which matched its biggest rating in 14 weeks. Making its last season count, Ellen has elevated its Nielsens 25% over the previous two weeks, while averaging more than 1.4 million viewers each day.

Judge Judy continued to be the fiercest friend of the court, blowing away all robed rivals with a 4% rise to a nine-week high 4.7.

The top talk shows for the week among women 25-54 were:

Steve Wilkos is no longer cleared in West Michigan TV market as WXMI Fox17 didn’t renew it and was on Fox17 from day 1. Maybe CW7 will pick it up next fall when Maury ends his run in May 2022. I have heard that if Wendy Williams doesn’t return that Nick Cannon may fill her timeslot that is what I heard from Page Six but since both are Syndication talk shows and in a lot of markets that they are on different TV station groups. Nexstar airs Wendy Williams on WOTV since day 1 in July of 2009 comes at 10AM which has been it’s timeslot for most of it’s run other than 5PM her first season second season was at 12PM and then moved to 10AM where has been second run airs on WXSP at 4AM, Nick Cannon is on Sinclair CW7 at 4PM and I doubt that they aren’t going to share.

And Nexstar could get Steve Wilkos if Wendy Williams doesn’t come back and clear it at 10AM where Fox17 aired it for most of it’s run did have a second run in the afternoons as well at 1PM or 2PM for many years as well.
