WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Jeopardy’ Wins Big With Week 2 Of Tournament of Champions

The annual event drives a 4% gain in the week ending Nov. 13. Among the newcomers, Sherri remains No. 1 for another week.

Jeopardy had all the right answers in the session ending Nov. 13, notching a 4% weekly increase to a new season high and syndication-best 5.5 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating with the second week of its annual Tournament of Champions.

Meanwhile, daytime shows were severely depressed by several days of must-see TV election coverage as news channel viewing increased dramatically. In addition, afternoon shows were preempted on Nov. 9 for President Biden’s remarks on the midterms.

For example, the only veteran courtroom show getting enough votes from viewers to advance was Hot Bench, which heated up 6% to a 1.3 and matched its season high. Bench, the No. 1 court show in original production, tied Dr. Phil as the third-highest-rated daytime show of any type after being buoyed by the second week of new judges Yodit Tewolde and Rachel Juarez who joined veteran jurist Michael Corriero.

Although none of the top six talkers was able to move up, Live with Kelly and Ryan remained ensconced in first place for a 25th straight week (including eight ties) with a steady 1.6.

Compared to last year at this time, the fastest growing talk show was Drew Barrymore with 60% higher ratings and a stratospheric 481,000 annual increase in viewers to about 1.2 million per day.

The sole talk newcomer in the plus column was Karamo which catapulted 33% to a new series high 0.4 and had its most-watched week yet, attracting an average 554,000 daily viewers.
