‘Judge Judy’ Tops Syndies In Strong Session

Judge Judy hit a five-week high, while five of the top six magazine shows also posted stellar results. Dr. Phil continued its 149th-week-in-a-row winning streak among talkers.

Judge Judy lit up the Nielsen chart with a 13% leap from the prior frame to a five-week high 6.3 live plus same day national rating and easily overwhelmed all of syndication despite being partially in repeats in the generally buoyant session ending July 14.

Five of the top six magazines posted stellar results. Extra and Daily Mail TV clocked the strongest percentage increases with both shows surging 13% to a 0.9. Access scored the largest year-to-year improvement, swelling 10% both annually as well as weekly to tie TMZ at a 1.1. Access also grew 25% in the key women 25-54 demographic. Inside Edition had a 2.6 and sister show Entertainment Tonight at a 2.5 led the category with gains of 8% and 9% respectively.

Back in daytime, Dr. Phil was in reruns on all five days but held its ground at a 2.2 and finished first among talkers for the 149th week in a row. Live with Kelly and Ryan was the second highest talk show for the 20th consecutive week with a steady 1.9.

Rounding out the top five, encore episodes of Ellen DeGeneres recovered 15% to a 1.5, Maury maintained a 1.2 and Wendy Williams returned from its hiatus with four originals and one repeat spiking 33% to a 1.2 and tying the all-repeat week of Maury.

Meanwhile, week one of a scheduled six-week test that began July 15 for comedic game show Punchline was graded at as 0.4 rating 1 share, weighted metered market average, down 33% from both its lead-ins and July 2018 time periods.

Back in the national ratings, true crime leader Dateline delivered a 8% spike to a 1.3 and a 20% surge in women 25-54 to a 0.6 in the demo. Meanwhile, the scripted Chicago PD shot up 13% to a 0.9.
