WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Kelly And Ryan’ Climbs To Tops In Talk

Despite preemptions for Chauvin trial coverage in the session ending April 25, it rose 6% to a four-week high 1.8 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, taking over sole possession of first place in talk.

Coverage of concluding arguments and the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial dealt daytime syndication a blow as it preempted the primary runs of many popular shows cleared on network affiliates in the session ending April 25.

Several of the top daytime strips suffered steep losses, but Live with Kelly and Ryan resisted the declines and rose 6% to a four-week high 1.8 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, taking over sole possession of first place in talk. Live, the season-to-date top talker, has now been No. 1 or tied for No. 1 28 times in the past 33 weeks.

Dr. Phil, which had been tied with Live for the past three weeks, was preempted a total of 19 times on April 19 and 20 in the top 20 markets alone and gave back 18% to a 1.4.

Elsewhere, Family Feud gained 4% to a 5.5 and flew into first place among the game shows and all of syndication.

Jeopardy, with guest host Anderson Cooper, sank 7% to a 5.1 and landed in a tie with Wheel of Fortune, which fell 4%. Jeopardy had been the syndie leader for the past two weeks with iconic quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the podium.

Also in access time periods, Entertainment Tonight held steady at a 2.2 to lead the magazines for a third straight week. Inside Edition dropped 5% to a 2.1. The recently renewed Access Hollywood, TMZ and Daily Mail TV all held their ground, with Mail moving into a tie with Extra as the fifth-highest show in the category.
