Kim Cattrall to Return as Samantha in Season 2 of And Just Like That…
The impossible has happened: Kim Cattrall will reprise her Sex and the City role as Samantha Jones in the upcoming Season 2 of the Max sequel series And Just Like That…, TVLine has confirmed.
Cattrall’s appearance will just be a one-off cameo, though, with Samantha having a phone conversation with Carrie. (The two old pals rekindled their friendship over text last season.) Cattrall reportedly did not see or speak with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, with whom she has a famously estranged relationship, while shooting her cameo, but she was dressed for the scene by veteran Sex and the City costume designer Patricia Field, reports the New York Post, which first broke the news.
And Just Like That… follows the lives of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte two decades after Sex and the City ended, with Cattrall’s Samantha conspicuously absent. (Season 1 addressed her absence by saying she had moved to London and lost touch with her former besties after a rift between her and Carrie.) Though Samantha continues as a character on the show off-screen, Cattrall was not expected to reprise her role on camera, but according to Variety, HBO boss Casey Bloys personally reached out to Cattrall about returning in Season 2, which led to her upcoming cameo.
Season 2 of And Just Like That… premieres Thursday, June 22 on Max, with Cattrall’s appearance slated for August. Will you tune in just to see Samantha’s return? Let us know in the comments.

When did she expose anything? All I ever heard her say was “SJP could have been nicer.” I honestly always felt like KC knew how popular Samantha was and wanted a bigger piece of the pie but she was never going to pull more $ than SJP who was the star and exec producer. If the series was so toxic why hasn’t any of the other cast members said this? The actor who played Stanford said that the issues were stemming from KC not SJP. If SJP is so awful, why has she constantly worked in the industry—particularly with the creator of SATC? It’s like Katherine Heigl. Most of the shows she worked on there was talk about her being difficult or a diva. There’s been no talk of that about SJP
These kind of arguments sound like gaslighting… Something can happen to certain people without happening to every single other person. We don’t know all that went on. The fact people still begrudge Catrall because she chose not to accept an offer she felt beneath her is mind-boggling. A person who did a complete series and two films can choose to move on. And everyone throws her under the bus for it. Regardless, all the involved have not only moved on, but reached a compromise for a cameo to honour the series.

Gaslighting? GMAFB! Still waiting on receipts where she exposed this toxic set. If there are NONE you can just pipe down . She turned down a 3rd movie. That’s her prerogative and not at all the topic here which is a TV show about to drop its second season. As stated before she said she was DONE with SATC. Badmouthed SJP to high heaven. I agree. Full disclosure, I’ve never watched And Just Like That, but I love Kim Catrall, she’s great. And something like this should’ve been kept under wraps until the episode aired, and surprise! Here’s Kim Catrall back as Samantha! And it for sure would’ve generated a lot more buzz than it already would have. Networks/studios/publicists/etc. should be more aware of what they have that could shock and surprise as opposed to revealing it ahead of time and having a field day with the info.
I’m hoping this lays the groundwork for a “Samantha in London” spin off. It seems like such an obvious idea and one that I think would probably work better than And Just Like That

No won’t be watching I was a devoted sex, and the city fan watched every episode at least three times, but sometimes shows like this. Don’t know when their time is done. In other words past their prime.
She lives in London (Sam), so it will almost definitively be through FaceTime, which allow the two actress to not be together.

I love Kim and completely respect her decision to leave the SATC universe behind. That being said, I am glad she is making a little cameo. I feel like she did it for the fans. Which makes me want to watch the new season more.

The first season of the reboot was NOT good, they are showing their desperation by bringing back first Aiden, and now Samantha. Hope both of them got HUGE paychecks for agreeing to appear in this literal shit show.

Am disappointed they haven’t been able to revolve their issues. really would have been fun to see her join them all together, but it is what it is. Still looking forward to the new season and seeing Kim appear!!
This show has completely ruined the legacy of the original series, I’m so happy Samantha only has a cameo so at least her character has little to no chance of being ruined like the rest have been.

Well that’s the only episode I’ll watch ☺️🤭😆. Plus Patricia Fielding has the call on her clothes thankfully so they will be amazing. Not the atrocious gear Carrie has been wearing in Season 1, rubber gloves notwithstanding 😳😆.
I am happy she is returning, but I honestly will be watching the show anyway, with or without her. i enjoyed the first season and didn’t miss her at all.
Cattrall’s return is very good news.. but nothing she tried made big money.. I would return to get that huge money for each episode.. I do not believe Sarah was mean to Cattrall.. Cattrall is THE ONLY ONE COMPLAINING.. Everybody would complain.. but they are all happy that they were asked to come back to the show.. if I would be a judge Cattrall has something wrong
