KLWB Lafayette Adding Telemundo On Subchannel

Delta Media-owned MeTV affiliate KLWB Lafayette, La. (DMA 121), is adding a Telemundo feed on ch. 50.3 beginning Jan. 22. Branded as Telemundo Lafayette, it will be the only Spanish-language local station in the market, according to Delta, and will be available to all Cox cable subscribers in the DMA beginning April 1.

Tom Poehler, VP of television for Delta Media, said: “Telemundo Lafayette will be an enormous asset to the Hispanic community in South Louisiana and to the businesses that serve them. With our location along the I-10 corridor between Houston and New Orleans, we are positioned to provide powerful reach and compelling value to viewers and advertisers alike.”

Delta Media also operates Lafayette’s only commercial Hispanic radio station, El Sabor. “We are uniquely positioned in the market as owners of both Spanish-language radio and television properties. El Sabor has already proven there is a strong multi-cultural market here. With Telemundo we will provide synergies and take great pride serving the Hispanic community” said Chuck Wood, Delta Media’s general manager.
