KOLD Adds 9 A.M. And 3 P.M. Newscasts

Tucson CBS affiliate KOLD is adding an hourlong 9 a.m. newscast starting Monday, September 5, according to a station release. KOLD News 13 at 9 will feature anchor Rebecca Taylor and meteorologist Mallory Schnell.

One week later, on September 12, KOLD will debut a new hourlong 3 p.m. newscast, the release also said. KOLD News 13 at 3 will feature anchor Valarie Cavazos and meteorologist Mallory Schnell.

“We are committed to serving Tucson and all Southern Arizona with the most Live, Local, Late-Breaking news. With the addition of these new time periods, KOLD will offer more news than any other local station,” said vice president and general manager Rob Boenau.

“As Tucson’s breaking news leader, we know it’s important to be available to viewers when it is convenient for them,” said news director Jessica Bobula. “We know how important breaking news and weather is in Tucson, and we will continue to look for ways to deliver the day’s biggest stories on air, online, and on mobile devices.”

KOLD said the addition of the 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. shows brings the total hours of live daily programming at the station to 37.5 hours Monday through Friday. Rebecca Taylor joins the team with nearly two decades of experience. She has spent many years in the Tucson and Phoenix markets, as well as in Los Angeles. She holds degrees from both University of Arizona and Arizona State University. She will be bringing her advocacy and investigative journalism skills to the KOLD Investigates team.
