‘Live’ Comes Alive In Second Olympics Week
The retitled Live with Kelly and Ryan was the standout in the session ending Aug. 8. The morning favorite raced ahead 14% to a 1.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, shrugging off the second and final Olympics week and blowing away its talk show competition for the 13th week in a row.
Another prominent Disney talker, the renamed Tamron Hall, scored with a 20% increase and averaged more than 800,000 daily viewers against the international games even though the show was in repeats on four of the five days.
Dr. Phil—OLYM also hit the podium, taking second in the category with an 8% advance to a 1.3, despite being completely in reruns.
However, the vast majority of strips went sideways or slipped lower against the games.
For example, the unretitled Maury was mired at its all-tie low 0.8 for a second week but held on for third place.
In access, Jeopardy—OLYM inched up 2% to a 4.5 with financial journalist David Faber filling in as guest host. That was no match for game show and overall syndication numero uno Family Feud, which fell 2% to a 5.1.
