NYC Broadcaster Ernie Anastos Returns To TV

Veteran local news anchor Ernie Anastos, seeing a need across the country for programming that is equally  uplifting and inspiring, has developed Positively America With Ernie Anastos that does both and will initially premiere this fall nationally on Gray Television’s stations. It has stations in 113 markets. The series marks a return to TV for Anastos, the multiple Emmy-winning news anchor who viewers followed for decades.

“It’s the right time. My passion has always been to inform, educate and inspire people with a sense of purpose. It’s a strong commitment that now expands to a national audience and I’m very excited,” emphasizes Anastos. Since leaving the WNYW New York anchor desk, he decided to further his education by studying at Harvard Business School. Then motivated by his love for the TV medium, began developing this nationally-syndicated series.

Greg Conklin, Gray’s corporate director of programming, says: “We’re happy to welcome Ernie and Positively America With Ernie Anastos to our fall lineup. He brings a successful track record of major market television experience and plenty of fresh ideas to viewers everywhere. We’re very enthusiastic about his enthusiasm and his concept for and approach to the new show.”

The weekly format offers up Anastos’ “personal brand of interaction with notable personalities and experts with new insights and a breadth of helpful information regarding today’s lifestyles,” Gray says. Celebrity interviews will range from singer Marie Osmond, sports legend Bob Costas and Extra host Jennifer Lahmers to filmmaker Ken Burns, HGTV host Alison Victoria, Major League Baseball manager Bobby Valentine, TV host Joan Lunden, celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich and publisher Steve Forbes.

Regular show segments will focus on trends in society, culture, family and relationships, education, health, fashion and consumer news, entertainment, technology and a look at the world of tomorrow. Additionally, Anastos will offer motivational words and his popular on the-street interview style featuring a variety of engaging and fun questions.

The series will also be interactive, capturing videos and comments from people all over the country, connecting with a variety of neighborhoods and communities for their positive stories.

As the author of books for young readers, Anastos will also soon begin appearing regularly on Wonderama, a popular and celebrated children’s TV show reaching 90-million households each week on 115 TV stations.
